THE funeral will take place on Friday of a woman who dedicated her life to churches in Accrington.
Miss Mary Dodd, who has died at the age of 90, was the daughter of a former minister at Oswaldtwistle Immanuel Church, Canon Dodd, and attended theological college in London.
On her return to the area she worked for the Blackburn Dioceses in Accrington and District first at Christ Church, Accrington, and then for the last 40 years at St James Church, Accr-ington.
During her life she taught hundreds of young people in the Sunday school and was regularly preaching at St James Church well into her eighties.
Formerly of Manchester Road, Accrington, Miss Dodd lived at the Hollies Nursing Home in Clayton-le-Moors.
Her funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday before burial at Oswald-twistle Immanuel.
