From the Lancashire Telegraph, first published Tuesday 22nd May 2007.
A team of women from Clayton-le-Moors Harriers has won the bronze medal at the British Masters Athletic Federation (of BMAF) Road Relay Championships.
Masters is the modern term for veterans, and Clayton women were successful in the Age 45-54 Race.
Anna Kelly, Sue Burns and Maureen Laney combined to clock a total time of 56:43, less than two minutes behind winners Reading.
The club's Age 40-49 men just missed a medal when they finished fourth in a competitive field of 36 teams. There were no weak links in the eight man team of Mark Aspinall, John Roche, Phil Hall, Garry Wilkinson, Barry Brock, Tony Walker, Andrew Hartley and Mark Brown with less than a minute between the fastest and slowest athletes.
The Harriers fielded four teams in Birmingham with the Age 50-59 men 24th of 30, and the Age 55-64 women seventh of nine.
