From the Lancashire Telegraph, first published Tuesday 22nd May 2007.
In weather more suitable for ducks than fell runners, young Tom Addison came of age and ran away from a strong field to win the 27th Pinhaw Fell Race, and second counter in the Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix.
Tom, who is only 16 years old and runs for Helm Hill, beat off a challenge from Blackburn's Paul Guinan with Mark Horrocks of Wharfedale in third place. Mark was also the first veteran to finish.
There was only one record broken in the five-mile race from Earby, but it was a truly remarkable one considering that the conditions were very tough on the fell.
Bingley's Victoria Wilkinson took a massive 36 seconds off Maureen Laney's record which had stood since 1988. Victoria's time of 32.24 put her in sixth position overall.
Mervyn Keys and Tony Spicer, from Rossendale Harriers, won the M45 and M55 classes, while Clayton athletes Peter Butterworth, John Amos and Brian Leathley triumphed in the M50, M65 and M75 divisions.
The Clayton club almost took a clean sweep in the women's veteran classes with awards for F40 Kath Brady, F45 Irene Roche, F50 Linda Bostock, F55 Karin Goss and F65 Kitty Garnett.
