From the Lancashire Evening Telegraph, first published Tuesday 4th May 2004.
EAST Lancashire Hospice supporters are being encouraged to hold yellow-themed events next month as part of the national drive.
The annual Hospice Care campaign was set up to raise awareness of services and the care available for the terminally ill, their relatives and carers. Its colour for June is yellow as it is the colour adopted by hospices for their logos.
The East Lancashire Hospice, in Park Lee Road, Blackburn, is the main specialist palliative care unit in Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley. This year, Harry Grayson, its head of fundraising, will dress in the colour from head to toe to help promote the campaign. He has also suggested yellow-themed events to raise money, including paying to wear yellow for the day, a quiz or raffle, a `grow a sunflower competition' or any sponsored event.
Businesses, pubs and clubs, schools and colleges that hold events can also request a visit from Harry and his new look between June 14 and 30. For more information, contact the hospice on 01254 342810.
